Abstract
This paper concentrates on the possible ways that could be realized for harmonization of UCTE-IPS/UPS interconnection emergency control. The paper evolves the suggestion about attracting the potential of back-to-back converter stations to increase the efficiency of SPS functioning. Using the recently obtained results of the UCTE-IPS/UPS feasibility study and investigation of possible ways to improve SPS functioning at the Russian Far East Power Grid with the use of the interstate HVDC tie with Chinese State Power Grid, the paper discuss possible ways of improving of UCTEIPS/ UPS interconnection.
