Abstract :
This paper presents a formulation of security-constrained unit commitment (SCUC) problem with emphasizing on wind power and compressed air energy storage (CAES). In past years, a fast growth in development of wind generation has been experienced in power system, due to many factors including environment and depletion of other resources. With increasing installed wind capacity the intermittency issues must be addressed. One way to mitigate the intermittency of wind generation is energy storage. In this paper, we use CAES to store energy and deal with intermittency in wind generation. Case studies are presented in detail in this paper.
