Abstract
In this paper, some of the major approaches to amplifier behavioural modelling that are proven successful in practice and giving an indication of their relative strengths and weaknesses are reviewed. All models have common aspects such as (1) a basic structure or mathematical definition; (2) a set stimuli chosen to enable the model parameters to be identified; and (3) the extraction process itself. In conclusion, behavioural modelling is important and valuable tool for both system design and simulation as well as amplifier linearization, although many research challenges are underway.
