  • Abstract
    This paper proposes a test cycle purposely conceived for electric drives which are used as propulsion systems of urban vehicles. Moreover, this paper presents a test bench to automatically manage, on an AC drive, the test cycle proposed. In addition, it carries out measurements of the values of important mechanical and electrical quantities. The test bench is provided with a mechanical load which can be varied according to a temporal law pre-defined by the operator to simulate different loads and various road slopes that the vehicle on which the traction electric drive will be assembled should overcome. The aim of this paper is also to give a contribution to the preliminary activities of the standardization of the electric drives as propulsion systems of urban vehicles
