Abstract
A multimedia agent can play an important role in bringing about the delivery of multimedia information, based on individual needs, in a distributed broadband environment. It may use various media like text, graphics, audio and video to help interact with human users in order to represent and keep track of the ever changing user interests. The users employ high level expressions while the internal representations used by the agent are transparent. One property of the agent that makes it helpful in other ways is its mobility around the network. The agent can thus represent the user and negotiate with other users, agents and resources. The agent is discussed within the context of a multimedia news delivery application
