Abstract :
Based on the failure mechanism of vacuum fluorescent display (VFD), its accelerated stress, lifetime distribution type and accelerated life equation were determined, and four constant stress accelerated life tests (CSALT) were performed. A system of lifetime prediction for VFD was developed by using the interface development of VB and merits of MATLAB in both calculation and display. Results of the inspection are displayed in two ways: visually, using fitting lines to show the level of discrepancy between the measured points and the mathematical model, and a hardcopy report of the average life and the reliable life. The accurate calculation of the key parameter enables rapid estimation of VFD life.
