Abstract :
Semiconductor laser technology is new and rapidly developing. Because semiconductor lasers are so new, many people don´t know much about them. The author describes what a diode laser is. He also shows qualitatively how a GaAs broad area diode laser works and how it is made. Finally he presents the theoretical bandgap model and use it to describe quantum wells
