Abstract :
This paper presents a resonant type dual-band microstrip antenna with compact size. This is realized by using an L-slot loaded ground. A dual band antenna design is presented for worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX) and wireless local area network (WLAN) band applications. The result shows that proposed antenna achieves an impedance bandwidth from 3.4 to 3.7 GHz and 5.725 to 5.825 GHz covering at 3.5 GHz WiMAX band and 5.8 GHz WLAN band using L-slot defected ground structure (DGS). This antenna provides good flexibility on selection of dual frequency operation by modifying dimension of L-slot and patch while capacitive matching has been achieved by gap coupling. The Patch is exploited to create resonance for upper WLAN band while an L-shape slot on the ground plane resonates at the WiMAX band. The antenna was designed using CST V.12 simulator.
