  • Abstract
This paper reviews practical control techniques which are convenient to use by industrial engineers. The discussion is limited to the control of time-invariant linear deterministic systems. The merits and demerits of each technique are discussed. The techniques discussed are: PID control; lag/lead control; linear quadratic control; dynamic matrix control; internal model control; disturbed observation control; variable structure control; and fuzzy logic and neural net control
