Abstract :
This paper aims at analyzing the contact between tongue and hard palate during production of Tibetan consonants in Xiahe dialect by means of Electropalatograph (EPG). The tongue characteristics of different kinds of consonants are obtained during speech production: Aspiration pushes the articulation place relatively backward for the posteriorly articulated consonants; at the same articulation place, Fricatives locate relatively back than Plosives and voiceless Affricates; the former part of compound consonant affects the latter part in a regular way.
