Abstract
Applying the spiral vector theory, the authors have shown that, by maintaining the instantaneous internal power-factor (IPF) angle (angle between field induced voltage and phase current spiral vectors) at zero degree, the interior permanent magnet synchronous (IPMS) motor can be made to give high dynamic performance similar to that obtainable from a separately excited DC motor. The paper presents the simulation and experimental results for a personal computer based instantaneous IPF angle controlled IPMS motor drive
