Abstract :
An intuitive model that addresses the script world attributes of event detectability and confusability, script attribute of noise event immunity, and script event attributes of confirming strength, necessity, and longevity is developed. These are defined as having discrete, qualitative values. The script itself is modeled as a sequence of events specifying these attributes. Given that events are considered to be symbols, an event sequence becomes a string, and a script can then be represented as language consisting of a single string. Deviations from the basic script can be described by string errors in the form of deletions, substitutions and insertions. An exemplar script, therefore can be described by a grammar which accommodates script attributes, is associated with each grammar production, and favors strings that most closely match the original desired string. The performance of the system is evaluated, and a method for significantly increasing script matching performance is presented
