Abstract :
In order to maximize the conversion efficiency of a parametric acoustic array, the designer must have access to an experimentally verified mathematical model capable of predicting the amplitude/frequency dependence of the nonlinearly generated ´difference-frequency´ field on the primary waves under source-saturated conditions. Although competing phenomenological models have been developed to address this need, their inherent assumptions and limitations are not generally understood. In this paper, following a brief review of these limitations, a new extension [9] of previous analytical models will be summarized and presented in a simple concise form for making design calculations.
