  • Abstract
The application of PWM chopper circuits in three-phase AC/DC diode bridge rectifiers is a cost effective alternative to achieving high power factor and low-harmonic distortion of the line currents. In view of the fact that no collective evaluation has been made so far concerning these topologies, this paper aims at making a collective and critical evaluation of PWM, single-switch topologies and their classification. These topologies cover a wide range of rectifiers including those with and without transformer coupling. Design/selection guidelines may be based on the tables presented as well as desired application. Where possible, computer simulation results for selected topologies have been included
