Abstract
We present a method to calculate the sensitivity or the derivative of an output variable with respect to a geometrical parameter for planar microstrip antennas. The structures are analysed by solving an integral equation using the method of moments. The sensitivities are obtained as a byproduct of this simulation. We also illustrate the application of these sensitivities in the minimax optimization of antenna structures.
