Abstract
Sodium nitrate exhibits a second-order ferroelectric phase transition on application of pressure. The analysis reported relates to the dielectric properties of sodium nitrate under hydrostatic pressure, such as the relation between the pressure and the polarization, the effect of pressure on the permittivity, the frequency characteristic of permittivity under hydrostatic pressure, and the electric field dependence of permittivity under hydrostatic pressure, in terms of a phenomenological theory
