  • Abstract
    This paper introduces a novel multicarrier system called the BPSK modulated parallel combinatory / half-symbol multicarrier modulation (PC/HS-MCM) system by combining the BPSK modulated HS-MCM system and the parallel combinatory code. The proposed system can achieve twice bandwidth efficiency (BWE) than that of the BPSK modulated PC-OFDM system by sending a half time-domain BPSK-modulated PC-OFDM waveform. We propose two types of demodulation algorithm for this system, that is, orthogonality demodulation and M-algorithm demodulation. Orthogonality demodulation can recover the orthogonality between the subcarriers with 3 dB BER performance deterioration. The M-algorithm demodulation can realize a BER performance improvement with a moderate computational complexity.
