Abstract :
In this paper, the contact forces and the grain size distribution during the fragmentation process of two-dimensional grains under the applied pressure are studied through computer simulation method based on single-particle breakage model. Simulation results demonstrate that the events of the grain breakage only happen in some specific area of the crushing system. The ultimate grain size distribution follows a power-law distribution with a fractal dimension of about 1.1. The distribution of the major principal stress indicates that most of the major principal stresses are distributed in the vicinity of the average of the major principal stress in the system. The force chain topologies indicate the characteristics of the aggregation effects of the contact forces.
