Abstract
There is a convergence path between the 3G systems and Internet. The 3G mobile systems were designed to support the multimedia traffic in packet-switched networks. The Internet applications and customers are presenting a profile of increasing mobility. This article approaches the convergence of the 3G systems and Internet from the point of view of QoS. Beyond, analyzes the results obtained with the implementation of the mechanism of DiffServ in a core network. The IETF DiffServ model appears as the mechanism to implements QoS inside the UMTS IP-based core network.
