  • Abstract
Getting AHEAD IN HEAD Injuries — Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is becoming an increasingly frequent and complex part of our civilian and military populations. All aspects of care from pre-hospital to rehabilitation must be looked at to improve outcome. Earlier diagnosis with more specific treatment is essential for optimum recovery. I will review diagnosis and treatment TBI as it is practiced today at a Level 1 Trauma center. I will also review some of the exciting technologies that are being developed for both invasive and noninvasive monitoring of TBI. These technologies also have significant barriers that must be overcome before clinical application and we will discuss how we can work together to remove these barriers.
