  • Abstract
A fundamental resource for realizing QoS in tactical environments is IP connectivity. Once IP connectivity can be obtained robustly, then other resources like bandwidth can be arranged. Mobile IPv6 may be used in some network scenarios to provide the required IP connectivity in the presence of mobility. However, it has been shown that Mobile IPv6 has a problem handling simultaneous mobility (when both ends of a communication session are mobile and move at about the same time). The MTOSM (mean time to occurrence of simultaneous mobility) is therefore an indication of the seriousness of the problem. We have previously analyzed the MTOSM for the case that both nodes move at the same rate. We extend the analysis to the case of asymmetric mobility rates and also compare with simulation results.
