Abstract
In the paper the fractional windings of the induction motors are analyzed in order to reduce the end-winding length and to clean the air-gap mmf from the point of view of spatial harmonics. The used copper can be reduced by proper arrangement of the windings. The example presented in the paper for a 1.5 slot per pole and phase winding shows the possibility of obtaining improved performances (efficiency, power factor, starting torque, noise level) and/or the lower copper used
