Abstract :
This paper presents the design ideas for a high level signal processing language. The design objectives for the signal processing language SIPROL are adaptation to the problem domain, portability and code efficiency. SIPROL is derived from PASCAL and comprises abstraction as the most significant extension. The problem of signal processing requirements is discussed and the main language issues are presented with respect to typical signal processing applications.
