Abstract
To facilitate early deployment of the personal communication network (PCN), efficient use of existing public network resources must be realized. Additionally, it is proposed that to accommodate the processing load arising from the anticipated demand for personal communications, call control functions should be distributed at low levels within the network. An integrated network architecture approach for urban areas which fulfils these requirements is described. Call management functions and procedures are illustrated with respect to this network architecture
