Abstract :
In order to increase the qualified ratio of the products and the precision of the width in continuous hot strip mill, width gauge is usually set behind the last finishing roll stand. At the same time, the purpose of controlling the strip width by adjusting the tension of the stands can be accomplished. However, the long distance from the last finishing roll standpsilas central line to width gauge results in a large time delay and time variation of the system. It is difficult to establish accurate model. By using predictive control method which depends a little on the model and RBF network to approximate the control rule directly, it shots online computing time that passes over solving Diophantine and inversing Matrix and it is suitable for the fast rolling process. Simulation result shows the validity of the proposed method. The paper lays a solid theory foundation for further practical application.
