Abstract
Forming a low energy consumption and environment-friendly railways industry has become an imperative work, therefore, the energy saving and emission reduction performance of railways should be paid more attention to. This paper firstly presents the current energy consumption and energy saving status quo of China´s railways, and then introduces some relevant energy saving researches with respect to power system, control strategy and train schedule. At last, according to the status, it puts forward the development trends of railways energy saving. Further, the paper may help some related researchers and policy makers to have a preliminary acquaintance of China´s railways.
