Abstract
Asymmetrical allocation of bandwidth to the forward and reverse channels based on the link quality is proposed. A 9-cell configuration is assumed to account for both inter and intracell interference. The optimum bandwidth allocation is easily obtained from the performance curves of both links. This design consideration is particularly effective if there is notable difference between the quality of the forward and reverse links. Our studies indicate that a 40% capacity gain is possible in a generic cellular CDMA system
