Digits to the customer: How to approach the problem

The need of extending digital facilities to the subscriber premises implies the solution of several problems connected with the transmission of digital signals on the existing copper pairs. Several solutions for full-duplex transmission can be envisaged, but only a few really interesting. In this paper the most suitable techniques are reviewed together with integration perspectives and experimental results obtained in field trials performed in Italy.
