Abstract :
The algorithm based on the Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) and Teager Energy Operation (TEO) is proposed as effective approach for estimating the instantaneous frequency of diastolic murmurs. EMD can adaptively decompose signal into a series of zero mean Amplitude Modulation- Frequency Modulation (AM-FM) Intrinsic Mode Functions (IMFs). TEO are capable of tracking the instantaneous frequency of the AM-FM component at any time instant. Two simulated signals are conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method. Results show that the method can well identify the instantaneous frequency and gives the accurate estimation. In end, the instantaneous frequencies of diastolic murmurs from clinic coronary artery disease object and normal object are estimated using the method. Results indicate that instantaneous frequencies have obvious differences between patient and normal; Instantaneous frequency of diastolic murmurs provides a strong basis for the detection of heart attacks.
