Abstract :
Gamma irradiation has been shown to permanently affect the electrical properties of epoxy resin systems due either to degradation processes or to cross-linking. Thermally stimulated discharge (TSDC) techniques have shown a peak in the TSDC spectrum at Tg , with a monotonically increasing current thereafter. DC conductivity is also affected by gamma irradiation. The TSDC spectra of an epoxy resin and its DC characteristics are further investigated in the present work. Results on gamma-irradiated material (0.5 MGy from a 60Co source) and on gamma plus neutron irradiation are presented. Also measured are the effects of electron irradiation on the excess carrier decay
