  • Abstract
Electrical conduction in polyethylene appears to be electronic in hexane treated polyethylene and ionic in the untreated material. Thermal transient current and thermally stimulated discharge current indicate that space charges dominate over dipoles at high DC stress. With continued AC stress in humid environment, real charge motion occurs in the polymer as observed by dielectric spectroscopy
