Abstract :
Scheduling difficulties and parallel machine alternative characteristics are centred upon machine assignment problems in steelmaking and continuous casting (SCC) scheduling process. Two different machine assignment methods: dynamic programming and rule-based, are proposed so as to select the better machines for furnace charges. The mathematical models of machine assignment are built up based on the two methods, two rough schedules are formed by solving above two models. Two feasible schedules are produced by using the same conflict elimination mathematical model for machines conflict possible in the rough schedules, and comprehensive evaluation index are established. The both methods are simulated using actual production data from a large steel plant. The two experimental results are evaluated by comprehensive evaluation index. The applicable condition and disadvantages of the both methods are gave through comparing to the simulation results. Powerful support is provided to select rational machine assignment methods for further application in engineering.
