Abstract
The influence of a magnetic field on the electron swarm parameters in mercury vapor is analyzed using a Monte Carlo simulation. For 300⩽E /N ⩽600 Td (1 Td=10-17 V-cm2) and 0⩽B /N ⩽22.56×10-19 T-cm3 , where E and B are the electric and magnetic fields, respectively, and N is the gas number density, the application of a magnetic field perpendicular to the electric field is shown to decrease the transverse drift velocity and the ionization coefficient
