Abstract :
The K562 cells at various densities were exposed to the same millimeter waves which frequency was 41.32 GHz at intensity of 2 mW/cm2 , respectively. Then the apoptosis of the cells were detected by flow cytometry. The results show that the apoptosis of K562 cells were different with the change of the cell density. Based on the relation between the apoptosis of the k562 cells and the transmembrane potential, the conceivable mechanism of the experimental results was studied according to the physics theory. First, an analytical solution for the transmembrane potential on the cells in suspensions was built by using the medium effective and Maxwell theory. The solution shows that the transmembrane voltage dependences on the cell densities. Then a curve of the transmembrane voltage changing with the change of the cell densities was gotten according to the solution. The curve is approximately in agreement with that of the apoptosis of the K562 cells varying with the change of the cell densities obtained from our experiments. This indicates that the K562 cell density is an important parameter which influences the apoptosis of the cells so much.
