Abstract :
This paper presents an arcade video game platform with a natural and tangible interface. The platform is built upon position tracking and velocity computing systems. The position tracking system uses radio frequency transceivers and ultrasonic sensors to compute the 3D position of the game player. The velocity computing system uses the 2D coordinates of two infrared ray grids to compute the trajectory and velocity of the physical game object thrown by the game player. The implementation results prove that the new type of natural and tangible interface can be useful for the next-generation arcade video games.
