Abstract :
This paper proposes a method to strengthen specific muscle group of thigh or upper arm using functional effective muscle theory. In the proposal method, the load is set by using the muscular activity pattern and the output force distribution during exercise. The muscular activity pattern and the output force distribution show an activity ratio of each muscle group and maximum output force, respectively, for direction of the output force at a tip point. The load of 80 percent of the output force distribution to the direction of 100 percent activity level of the muscular activity pattern of target muscle group is decided. Because the output force distribution changes due to posture change, necessary load must be set all the time during exercise. The proposed load is realized by a therapeutic exercise supporting manipulator for lower limbs. The proposed training is realized as a result of the experiment.
