Abstract
The calculation of core losses for nonsinusoidal time processes as well as for nontoroidal core shapes has been described as well as the calculation of winding losses for two-dimensional magnetic fields in SMPS. Using a thermal model these losses can be converted to temperature rises. With the knowledge of a power loss minimum depending on the number of turns and the conductor thickness this minimum value can be found by an iteration process
