Abstract
Floating point arithmetic offers many advantages to the field of digital signal processing (DSP). Newly available hardware makes it possible for a single board to perform real-time DSP functions using floating point arithmetic. This work describes the realization of a finite-impulse response (FIR) filter using a family of floating point devices; the TDC1022 Floating Point Adder, the TDC1033 Floating Point Registered ALU, and the TDC1042 Floating Point Multiplier.
