  • Abstract
According to our investigation and research about several CIM-applied enterprises including Chengdu Aircraft Corporation, Beijing First Machine Tool Factory, etc., problems and difficulties faced by manufacturing enterprises are analyzed. After that, goals and the functions of an operation and control engine are given. The engine is an important part of MACIP (Manufacturing Enterprise CIMS Application Integration Platform). It can also act as CIM OS (operating system). An implementation method based on micro kernel technology is presented. Its mechanism supports incrementally complication, which complies with current trend of developing CIMS applications step by step. By using this engine, various applications could run seamlessly, transparently, rapidly and safely. The engine makes “plug and play” technology possible
