Abstract
The performance degradation of passive RFID (radio frequency identification) systems, working at UHF, due to arc curving of the RFID tag antenna is investigated. Four different typical dipoles are curved and compared. Curving of antenna structures was accomplished based on theoretical analysis and numerical simulations using the NEC-Win Basic. Results show the performance of a passive RFID system characterized by operating range, can be degraded significantly due to curving. Therefore, antenna structures less sensitive to curving should be considered for RFID systems to avoid this kind of distortion.
