Abstract
A/D conversion of large signal is problematic since its amplitude falls outside the level of commercial electronics. The paper explores a small signal slicing approach for A/D conversion of signals with large amplitudes. The large signal amplitude is sliced into various segments so that they fall within the operational limits of low-voltage electronics. AID conversion of each segment is carried out using conventional data converter before the samples are digitally multiplexed to recover the conversion of the overall signal. Such an approach provides more accuracy in data conversion. MatLab simulation confirms the validity of the proposed approach.
