Abstract :
A novel method of dipole-moment determination using the dielectric properties of organic liquids at microwave frequencies is proposed. Dipole moments of chloral, ethyl trichloro acetate, and 1,1,1-trichloro tert butyl alcohol are calculated using this method, and their dielectric properties in solution in nonpolar solvents are determined. The solute-solvent interaction parameter and the contribution of intermolecular forces are computed using significant liquid structure theory for solutions of p-azoxyanisole and 1,1´-diacetyle ferrocene liquid crystalline substance in nonpolar solvent. It is found that the method proposed to calculate the dipole moment is valid for the non-Debye relaxation mechanism, and the significant liquid structure theory provides useful information about the solute-solvent interaction and the contribution of various intermolecular forces
