Abstract
A methodology for the virtual realization of optimal ℋ2 linear state feedback controllers for linear systems with singular control weighting is presented. Such design problem ordinarily leads to infinite gains (“high gains”). The subject of this paper is a method for virtually implementing that (theoretically linear) optimal controller through the (intrinsically non-linear) sliding modes technique, thus requiring only finite and limited gains
