Abstract
Capital investment in factory automation systems can be, and usually is, substantial. To provide appropriate guidance to management, significant life cycle costs must be identified and evaluated. This paper specifies the desirable characteristics of an appropriate economic evaluation model and summarizes the extant literature with respect to the theoretical paradigm.
