Media pedagogy - The medium is the message

Leveraging on the powerful impact of films, we at EduMedia India Pvt. Ltd. have introduced School Cinema - a well researched film-based learning module supported by a fun and exciting workbook/worksheets designed to introduce and reaffirm life-skills and values to children, thereby having a positive influence on their attitudes. The modules closely adhere to the recommendations given by the Indian Educational boards for the holistic development of children. The workshop will take the participants through a journey of entertainment and learning involving film screening and interactive film worksheets thereby giving them a firsthand experience of School Cinema. The workshop will also highlight the research findings that led to the creation of films for students and teachers. The author will lead a discussion on the impact and effectiveness of film based learning modules in instilling values and attitudes in children, developing skills, and empowering teachers on the areas of self development, understanding children and innovative teaching methodologies. The equipment required for the tutorial, includes an AV Set up (projector, speakers and a laptop with a DVD drive) and a white board with marker pens.
