Abstract :
A noncontact battery charger for electric vehicle applications is presented. In this circuit, size reduction and high efficiency are realized by introducing soft switching in a self-oscillating power converter. An efficiency of 97% for a 3 kW output was obtained with a switching frequency of 100 kHz using MOSFETs. The maximum power treated in the charger for the high frequency switching is increased by lessening the leakage inductance of the coupling transformer
