Abstract
Rare-earth-doped fiber lasers have played an immense role in pioneering and realizing high optical power regime. Among these rare-earth-doped fiber lasers, Ytterbium-doped (Yb) silicate fibers demonstrate exceptional performance especially in high power regime. Phosphosilicate based Yb-doped fiber offers great advantages such as negligible photo-darkening, relatively longer lifetime than aluminosilicate based fibers and higher damage threshold. In this research, thermal characteristics of Yb-doped phosphosilicate fibers are discussed by presenting experimental results.
