Abstract :
This paper reviews the mathematical basis for two popular algorithms - the Kalman filter used in control and the adaptive FIR filter used in signal processing. These estimation algorithms are compared and discussed. They are reformulated into the generalized frequency domain to yield alternative algorithms such as Walsh, Haar, and slant.
