  • Abstract
Picture archiving and communication systems (PACSs) are a part of the image manipulation function in a medical environment. This paper explains the development of a PC-based PACS composed of three workstations for image acquisition, archiving and communication, and one for consultation and processing. The DICOM (Digital COmmunication in Medicine) file format is used for archiving. In the second phase of this work, we will install a PC to link the PC-PACS to external workstations via ISDN. Also, an HP 9000 workstation will link the PACS to the Internet
