  • Abstract
In recent years, there has been growing interest in the research of soil microstructure. From the series images of soil microstructure, some micro-parameters such as porosity, soil particle orientation degree could be extracted. By analyzing these parameters, the soil micro-mechanics property under loadings could be obtained. While, every frame image of soil microstructure was the small region. It leads to the research about soil microstructure is limited by the small field-of-view. In order to learn the soil microstructure from the large region, the image mosaic technology based on digital tmage correlation is proposed to apply on the research of soil microstructure. First, the series images with overlap region of lime solidify soil are captured in this paper. By searching the match point, two images with overlap region can be found and mosaiced together. Then, the field-of-view of soil microstructure is widen. And, the regulation of porosity and orientation degree of soil particles under loadings are compared between the pre-mosaic images and post-mosaic ones. Experimental results show that the evoluation regulation obtained from the mosaic image of soil microstructure can reflect comprehensively the macro-mechanics property of soil sample. Moreover, it can supply the more science interpretation for the engineering than before.
